Performing Piano for the First Time

I flew home into a snowy St. Louis scene on Saturday after a bit of a flight delay with one goal: Get to the kids to see their holiday piano recital. This was a pretty big deal because Jordan has never performed on the piano in public before. The recital was a holiday show for a local retirement home. So that made it extra sweet.

The good news? Even with delays and slick roads on my two hour drive, I made it just before the show and got to watch Jordan play Jingle Bells with her little arm and hand.

I’m thrilled Jordan is so confident about performing and I can’t wait to see her continue to grow as a piano player. Also, we got the call from her basketball coach. Practice starts next month! We’re going to be really busy next year.

Her teacher has been so cool about helping Jordan learn how to read music for the right and left hand. She has found a consistent collection of beginner music that only needs one note at a time on the left side. It’s so cool to see Jordan’s pride in learning how music works. She surprised us last Fall when she proved to her teacher and I that she didn’t need to learn one-handed piano. She even kicked butt during her very first piano recital. […]

Jordan, you are awesome. Keep up the good work. Maybe you will be a professional pianist someday.
