Flashback Friday: Meeting Winter the Dolphin

Two years ago, we were in the middle of an adventure of a lifetime. Our family had a special gift of meeting Winter the Dolphin at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Winter was rescued when she was two months old. Her fluke was wrapped in fishing line and it eventually fell off from the damage. To help her survive, two prosthetists created a prosthetic tale so Winter can prevent long term damage to her spine. Incredibly, Jordan and I had a chance meeting with one of the prosthetists, Kevin Carroll.  You can read about our day at the aquarium. We made the trip not long after the movie, Dolphin Tale, came out in theaters. Right now, crews are shooting the sequel for Dolphin Tale 2! We are super excited for another movie about Winter.

We remain incredibly thankful for this special trip. And we are so lucky our blog friend, Ashlyn and her family could join us on this trip two years ago.

Here’s a few additional posts about our love of Winter the Dolphin. Have a great weekend everyone!

I hope you saw this. The NY Times Magazine has a great section on turning limb prosthetics into art.
