A beautiful day

Our family feels a little closer to complete… Even though we’ve been without my mother-in-law since the end of February. August 12th will forever be a special day for all of us. The wedding between my brother-in-law, Barry and my now sister-in-law, Jenn was fabulous. Spending a few extra days with the kids’ new cousins and helping support Jenn put together a fantastic wedding was just incredible.

First, let me tell you about Barry’s (and our) friends… Many of us got to the Outer Banks of North Carolina early enough to have fun together. The grown men joined the kids in body surfing and boogie boarding. There were so many laughs and smiles and fun. The day of the wedding included MASSIVE waves that led to extra scratches and wounds from failed surfing attempts. But that didn’t damage anyone’s spirit. All of the kids were wonderful. Even Jordan got along with Cameron most of the time. I do know this… We all had so much fun together. I wish we all had more excuses to play more often.

Somehow right before the wedding, the overcast sky cleared to perfection. Blue with little puffy clouds in the sky. I did Jordan’s hair and somehow it looked sweet. (I’m not known for hair design.) The ceremony was just perfect and Jordan was once again, an incredible flower girl.
The bride and groom glowed and the ocean crashed and I have to be honest… I bawled a very quiet bawl. My mother-in-law was with us. I know it. This was a beautiful day and it hurt to be without her. But wow, there was so much to be happy for. And I can’t think back to any time in my recent life where I was so deeply happy and sad at the same time. This is a beautiful family.
And I have to be honest… My family cleaned up really nicely as well. It was an incredible day, a beautiful celebration and I’m so very touched we had a chance to be such an important part of it all.
