BOOST design@home is a new virtual workshop experience for students in upper elementary school and older. Since 2016, Born Just Right led in-person workshops where young people learn brainstorm and how to design creations that can help or provide joy in their lives. Registration opened December 1st!

Our first BOOST virtual experience will have limited "seats." But we hope to grow the program throughout 2021.

The virtual program is developed based on the origional BOOST by Born Just Right workshops. These in-person events invite kids to celebrate the bodies they're in and reframe their disability as a way to design something no one else can build. What if we lived in a world where disability products and devices are met with, "WOAH THAT'S SO COOL! I WISH I HAD ONE OF THOSE!!!"? We'd like to find out.

BOOST Workshops are featured in Marvel's Hero Project on Disney+. A donation from the show helped fund our work.

BOOST workshops range from 5-day intensive workshops to one-day events for kids with a range of physical abilities. Our workshop participants learn some pretty cool tools and technology (like 3D printing, robotics, or AI), and work alongside professional designers, engineers, and makers to bring their fantastic ideas to life. Post-workshop, they are "buddied up" with design and engineering professionals for 4-6 months to continue developing and refining their prototypes.

We want youth to leave our workshops with a new perspective, technical skills, confidence in the design process and their ability to make, connection with peers who have a similar condition, relationships with design and engineering professionals, AND a super cool invention.

The curriculum started in 2014 by Kate Ganim - trained in architecture - and has been made possible by the time and support of many incredible individuals and organizations. Special thanks to our sponsors and partners including Disney and Microsoft. Others are listed below!
