Purple Dress Project

I think it’s worth sharing a project that is underway in my area that may not affect many children (thank goodness) but it’s a terrible disease and a blogger in my community is trying to raise awareness.

Ashley Hasty created the Purple Dress Project to raise awareness about Crohns Disease. Crohns is usually developed between the ages of 14 and 32. It is painful and mean disease. Ashley has it and was able to battle it back for the time being thanks to surgery. A current student/friend of mine is very, very sick from it. I have seen firsthand how debilitating it can be. Ashley is trying to raise money and awareness by wearing the same purple dress every day this month. She’s come up with all kinds of ways to wear it which is really cool since she even designed it on her own! (These are things I cannot do.) You can check out the many versions and stories about Crohns on her website A Hasty Life.

She’s trying to raise $5,000 and is just above $2,000 at this point. It would be fabulous to see if any fans of Born Just Right can pitch in and help!

My friend Rhiannon Trask of Lollipop Photography is one of a number of photographers who have taken pictures of Ashley and the many versions of her purple dress. I think it’s so cool to see Ashley’s creativity and Rhiannon’s photography combined!

What a fabulous way to raise awareness and have some fun at the same time. One of my relatives has Crohns and it has taken its toll on his health for a number of years. Kudos to Ashley and all who support her cause.
